Conduct a public hearing for the purpose of receiving/interviewing <br />citizens interested in an interim appointment to one position on the <br />City's School Board for the duration of Joseph E. Finley's leave of <br />absence. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: As Council is aware, Joe Finley has requested a leave of <br />absence from the School Board. The interim position will begin <br />immediately upon appointment and will end with the return of Mr. Finley <br />to active service or June 30, 2006, whichever f~rst occurs. At the time of <br />preparing this Agenda, no Forms/Resumes had been received, but the <br />deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, the 7th. We will prepare an Addendum <br />and have at your place for Tuesday's meeting. Should Council desire, it <br />can convene in Closed Session, under Subsection 1 of the FOI Act, for <br />the purpose of interviewing the applicants. According to State Law, only <br />those citizens interviewed by Council or whose name was brought up <br />during the Public Hearing can be considered for appointment, and <br />appointments cannot be made until seven days after the Public Hearing, <br />thus this item will be on Council's June 22nd Agenda. <br /> <br />VII. Consider a request from the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad for <br /> the City's Fire Department to begin providing transport service. <br /> <br />VIII. Business from the Floor <br /> <br />This section of the Council meeting provides citizens the <br />opportunity to discuss matters, which are not listed on the printed <br />agenda. In that the Co~mcil meetings are broadcast on Martinsviile <br />Government Television, the City Council is responsible for the <br />content of the programming. Thus, any person wishing to bring a <br />matter to Council's attention under this Section of the agenda <br />should: (1) come.to the podium and state their name and address; <br />(2) state the matter that they wish to discuss and what action they <br />would like for COuncil to take; (3) limit their remarks to five <br />minutes; and (4) refrain from m~irlng any personal references or <br />accusations of a factually false and/or malicious nature. <br /> <br />IX. STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />A. Update on Liberty Street/Clearview Drive improvement project. <br /> <br />B. Hear a report from John Dyches, Water Resources Director, regarding <br /> the distribution of the Annual Water Quality Report and update on <br /> the City's water system public notification requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />
