March 9, 2004 <br /> <br />by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />Appointments/Reappointments to various Boards/Commissions, as <br />authorized by Subsection 1. <br />1. Board of Appeals <br />A personnel matter Under the jurisdiction of the City Council, as <br />authorized by Subsection 1. <br />Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to specific legal matters <br />requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as authorized by <br />Subsection 7. <br />Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to specific legal matters <br />requiring the provision of legal counsel advice by counsel, as <br />authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br /> <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br /> <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br /> <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following action: <br /> <br />1. Vice Mayor Roop moved to appoint Thomas Helmstutler, of <br />500 Mulberry Road, to an unexpired five-year term on the Board of <br />Appeals, ending May 11, 2006; the motion was duly seconded and <br />carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; <br />Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br />Council Member Dallas moved to appoint Matthew C. Hankins as <br />Assistant Clerk of Council; the motion was duly seconded and <br />carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; <br />Yays (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague. <br />Vice Mayor moved to authorize the Interim City Manager to sign the <br />First Piedmont Corporation contracts when completed; the motion <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br />members voting: 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br />Teague. <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before Council during their regular <br /> <br />meeting, upon motion by Vice Mayor Roop, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, Mayor <br /> <br />Teague declared the meeting adjourned at 10:11 P. M. <br /> <br /> <br />
