following such lot lines. <br /> <br />3. Boundaries indicated as approximately following city limits shall be construed as <br /> following city limits. <br /> <br />4. Distances not specifically indicated on the zoning map <br />shall be determined by the scale of the map. <br /> <br />Where the street or property layout existing on the ground is at variance with that shown <br />on the zoning map or in other circumstances not covered by paragraphs 1 through 6 <br />above, the Board of Zoning Appeals shall interpret the district boundaries. <br /> <br />Where any street, road or alley is hereafter officially vacated or abandoned, the <br />regulations applicable to each parcel of abutting property shall apply to that portion of <br />such street, mad or alley added to the property by virtue of such vacation or <br />abandonment. <br /> <br />G. Floodplain Overlay District <br /> <br />Notwithstanding the boundaries of the districts which make up this ordinance, a floodplain <br />overlay district is hereby created which may modify the terms and conditions of this <br />ordinance. The basis for the delineation of this district shall be the flood insurance study for <br />the City of Martinsville prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal <br />Insurance Administration dated October 1, 1980, as amended. All development with the <br />boundaries of this district shall comply with all requirements of the City of Martinsville's <br />Flood Plain Ordinance, found in the Office of the Building Official, adopted August 27, <br />1991, as amended. <br /> <br />SECTION II: DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />For the purpose of this ordinance, the following words and terms shall have the meanings <br />indicated herein. All words used in the present tense shall include the future tense; all words <br />used in the singular number shall include the plural number; and all words in the plural <br />number shall include the singular number, unless the natural construction of the wording <br />indicates otherwise.
