SECTION I: DISTRICTS AND BOUNDARIES <br /> <br />Applicability of Ordinance <br /> <br />The boundaries of the territory within which this ordinance is to be effective shall be that <br />area which lies within the corporate limits of the City of Martinsville, hereinafter referred to <br />as the City. <br /> <br />Districts Established and Enumerated <br /> <br />In order to establish setback building lines, regulate and restrict the location, erection, <br />construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair or use of buildings and other structures, their <br />height, area and bulk, the percentage of the lot to be occupied by buildings or other <br />structures, the size of yards, courts and other open spaces, and the trade, industry, residence <br />and other specific uses of the premises in such district or districts, the incorporated area of <br />the City is hereby divided into the following districts: <br /> <br />R-16 Residential District <br />R-9 Residential District <br />R-6 Residential District <br />P-1 Medical Professional District <br />P-2 General Professional District <br />RP-1 Residentiai-Professional District <br />C-1 Neighborhood Business District <br />C-lA Intermediate Commercial District <br />C-2 Central Business District <br />C-3 General Commercial District <br />M-1 Light Manufacturing District <br />M-2 Heavy Manufacturing District <br /> <br />C. Adoption of Official Zoning Map <br /> <br />The locations and boundade.$ Of the zoning districts shall be as shown on a map, <br />accompanying this ordinance entitled "Official Zoning MaP, Martinsville, Virginia." The <br />Official Zoning Map and the notations, references and amendments thereto, and other <br />information shown thereon, are hereby made a part of this ordinance, just as though such <br />information set forth on the map were fully described and set out herein. The Official Zoning <br />Map, properly attested by the signature of the Mayor and the Clerk of Council with the seal of <br />the City affixed, shall be available for inspection by the public. <br /> <br /> <br />
