December 10, 2002 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting and Town Meeting of the Council of the City of <br /> Martinsville, Virginia, was held on December 10, 2002, at Druid Hills Elementary <br /> School, beginning at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Gene Teague presiding. Council Members <br /> present included: M. Gene Teague, Mayor; Terry L. Roop, Vice Mayor; and Council <br /> Members Joseph R. Cobbe, Bruce H. T. Dallas, and J. Ronald Ferrill. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation and Pledge to the American Flag, Mayor Teague <br /> welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the minutes of the November 12, 2002, <br /> meeting as presented, and the November 26, 2002, meeting as amended; the motion <br /> was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br /> 0; Yeas (5) - Cobbe, Dallas, FerriII, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council recognized the following employees receiving service awards from <br />October through December 2002: <br /> <br /> 30 years: Eddie Frazier, Public Works <br /> 25 years: Bobby Setliff, Eletric <br /> 20 years: Janet Hiatt, Police; Perrice Williams, Public Works; Harold <br /> Bush, Finance <br /> '15 years: Cindy Barbour, Public Works <br /> 10 years: Linda Conover, Finance; Anita Williams, Commissioner of the <br /> Revenue's Office; Stuart Hayzlett, Police <br /> 5 years: John Kazor, Fire; Teresa George, Sheriff's Office; Persell <br /> Brandon, Public Works; Curtis Millner, Water Resources; Anthony <br /> Rinaldi, Leisure Services <br /> <br /> Council recognized the nominees for the 2002 Fourth Quarter Service Excellence <br />Award. Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, presented the nominees: Rhonda <br />Gregory, Public Works; Frank Holland, Community Development; Linda Kanode, Police; <br />Brenda Souther, Police; and Irene Turner, Police.
