AGENDA <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />Council Chambers - Municipal Building <br />7:30 P.M. - Tuesday, February 11, 2003 <br /> <br />Invocation - Mayor M. Gene Teague <br /> <br />Pledge to the American flag <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meeting of January <br /> 28, 2003. (See Enclosure #1) <br /> <br />II. Presentation of "Citizen of the Year" award by the Police Department. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Mike Rogers, Police Chief, will be making this <br />presentation. <br /> <br />III. Consider a report pertaining to an application for grant funds <br /> ($31,521.43} from the U.S. Department of Justice/Virginia Department <br /> of Emergency Management to purchase equipment under the recently <br /> approved Federal Anti-terrorism Act. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />IV. Consider approval of the City's prioritized list of projects to be included <br /> in the Year 2003 Regional Comprehensive Economic Development <br /> Strategy and authorizing the City Manager to provide this information to <br /> the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development <br /> Administration. (See Enclosure #3) <br /> <br />V. Business from the Floor <br /> <br />This section of the Council meeting provides citizens the <br />opportunity to discuss matters, which are not listed on the printed <br />agenda. In that the Council meetings are broadcast on Government <br />Channel 5, the City Council is responsible for the content of the <br />programming. Thus, any person wishing to bring a matter to <br />Council's attention under this Section of the agenda should: <br />come to the podium and state their name and address; (2) state the <br />matter that they wish to discuss and what action they would like for <br />Council to take; (3} limit their remarks to five minutes; and <br />refrain from making any personal references or accusations of a <br />factually false and/or malicious nature. <br /> <br />VI.
