Enclosure for Item IV <br /> <br />Martinsville <br /> <br />September 24, 2002 <br /> <br />The Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />City of Martinsville <br />Martinsville, Virginia <br /> <br />Council Members, <br /> <br />The Planning Commission, at a meeting on September 24, 2002, conducted a public <br />hearing on a request from city staff to amend Zoning Ordinance Section X.L., R-6 <br />Residential District, Section X.H., R-9 Residential District, and Section XI.L., RP-1 <br />Residential-Professional District. In each respective zoning district the following uses <br />allowed by special use permit are proposed to be added: <br /> <br />Personnel Service Uses, such as barber shops, beauty parlors/salons, health spas, and <br />fitness centers. <br /> <br />Following discussion of the proposed amendments, in which no opposition was <br />expressed, the Planning Commission voted unanimously (5-0) to recommend to City <br />Council that the Zoning Ordinance be amended as proposed (see attachment).
