June 20,2002 <br /> <br />ducts, conduits and other facilities or to charge appropriate fees <br />separate and apart from the Public Rights-of-Way Use Fee for <br />their use of such City facilities. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption, on second reading, of Ordinance 2002-8 adding <br /> <br />Section 1-17 Special Assessment authorizing a processing fee not to exceed $25 on <br /> <br />any individual admitted to a county, city, or regional jail following conviction to Chapter 1 <br /> <br />of the City Code. Council Member Dallas moved to adopt, on second reading, the <br /> <br />following Ordinance 2002-8; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following <br /> <br />roll call vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, <br /> <br />Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session held on June 11,2002, pursuant to the <br />provisions of Section 15.2-1613.1 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as <br />amended, that Section 1-17 be added to Chapter 1 of the <br />Martinsville Code to read as follows: <br />"Sec. 1-17. Special assessment to defray the costs of <br />processing arrested persons into local or regional jails. <br />A processing fee in the amount of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) <br />shall be assessed as part of the costs on any individual admitted to <br />a local or regional jail following conviction in a City Court. Such fee <br />shall be ordered as part of court costs by the clerk, deposited into <br />the account of the City Treasurer, and shall be used by the City <br />Sheriff's Office to defray the costs of processing arrested persons <br />into local or regional jails. This assessment shall be in addition to <br />all other costs prescribed by law." <br /> <br />Council considered approving the granting of July 5, 2002, and November 29, <br /> <br />2002, as additional paid holidays for all employees under the City Manager for FY03 <br /> <br />only. Council Member Dallas moved to approve such granting; the motion was duly <br /> <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas <br /> <br />(5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> <br />
