June 6,2002 <br /> <br /> A work session meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was <br /> held on June 6, 2002, in the Administrative Conference Room of the Municipal Building, <br /> beginning at 10:05 A. M, with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. The purpose of the <br /> <br />· meeting was to discuss proposed amendments to Zoning Ordinance Section Xll, <br />Commercial Districts. Council Members present included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; <br />M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. Ronald <br />Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Wayne Knox, Planning, Zoning, & Housing Manager, stated that the proposed <br /> amendments are to increase user-friendliness and to update terminology and language. <br /> He added that all current businesses would be "grandfathered." Council Member Ferrill <br /> expressed concerns regarding neighborhoods in transition. Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City <br /> Manager, suggested a review of the fee schedule, which has not been updated in 30 <br /> <br />years. <br /> <br /> By general consensus, with no vote taken, Council agreed to meet on Thursday, <br />June 20, 2002, 12:00 P. M., to consider adoption of the Fiscal Year 2003 Budget and <br />tax rates, consider adoption of other Ordinances on second reading, and consider <br />appointments to the School Board. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their work <br />session meeting, upon motion by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, by <br />unanimous vote, Mayor Crabtree declared the meeting adjourned at 10:47 A.
