Reynolds, Jr. - City Manager <br /> <br />Iris Read - Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Revisions to Section 125 - Cafeteria Plan <br /> <br />On January 1, 1988, the City implemented a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan that allowed employees to pay <br />their portion of health care premiums with pm-tax dollars, thereby reducing their taxable income. <br />Subsequent amendments permitted employees to pay dental and vision premiums with pre-tax dollars. <br />The employee benefits package was modified on July 1, 2002, to allow employees to pay eligible health <br />care and dependent care under a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) provision. We are asking that the <br />Plan Document be amended to include this pre-tax provision. The revised Section 125 Plan is attached <br />for your review and submission to Council for their approval. <br /> <br />I would be pleased to answer any questions that you or City Council may have regarding this request. <br /> <br />Iris R.
