May 24, 2002 <br /> <br /> A work session meeting to review the Fiscal Year 2002-2003 Proposed Budget of <br />the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held on May 24, 2002, in Council <br />Chamber of the Municipal Building, beginning at 10:15 A. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree <br /> <br />presiding. Council Members present included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene <br />Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members J. Ronald Ferrill and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br />Council Member Bruce H. T. Dallas was absent due to a death in the family. <br /> <br /> Michael Rogers, Chief of Police, presented his department's budget request. <br />Discussion was held regarding vehicles and personnel compensation plan. By general <br />consensus with no vote taken, Council requested that Administration attempt to allocate <br />funding for three additional vehicles. <br /> <br /> Jerry Brock, Chief of Fire, presented his department's budget request. He <br />highlighted achievement of the past year. Council requested an evaluation of the part- <br />time program after three to six months of implementation. <br /> <br /> Iris Read, Human Resources Manager, presented her department's budget <br />request. She reviewed the revised organizational chart, benefits program, and <br />presented revised policies regarding drug and alcohol use, retirement medical <br />insurance coverage, and workplace violence. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their budget work <br />session meeting, upon motion by Council Member Ferrill, duly seconded, by unanimous <br />vote, Mayor Crabtree declared the meeting adjourned at 12:56 P.
