April 9, 2002 <br /> <br />B. Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br />Council reconvened and considered business from the floor. Irving Simon, <br />former City representative to the Anchor Group Home System Commission, stated that <br />the system would be affected by State cuts, and any extra money would be appreciated. <br /> <br /> Wade Bartlett, Director of Finance, presented the financial report for month <br />ending February 28, 2002. Council requested a list of the streets currently approved for <br />paving. Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, stated that renovations are complete to the <br />Municipal Building. <br /> <br /> Mayor Crabtree discussed that Governor Mark Warner is attempting to add a $5 <br /> State fee to the tipping fee. Also, the Virginia Museum of Natural History remains in the <br /> budget. <br /> <br /> Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br /> Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br /> by Council Member Roop, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matter: <br /> <br /> A. Appointments/Reappointments to various Boards/Commissions, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> 1. Transportation Safety Commission <br /> 2. West Piedmont Planning District Technical Advisory <br /> Committee <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of the Authority certified <br /> that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br /> discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br /> motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> Session. Upon return to Open Session, the Authority took no action. <br /> <br /> <br />
