January 22,2002 <br /> <br />by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matter: <br /> <br /> A. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual litigation, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> B. Appointments/Reappointments to various Boards/Commissions, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> 1. Anchor Group Home Commission <br /> 2. Board of Zoning Appeals <br /> 3. Transportation Safety Commission <br /> <br /> Council recessed and convened as the Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority. The AuthoritY considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In <br />accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) <br />and upon motion by Authority Member Roop, duly seconded, and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, the Authority convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing <br /> <br />the following matter: <br /> <br /> A. <br /> B. <br /> <br />Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br />Possible acquisition of real property for public use, as authorized by <br />Subsection 3. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br /> <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br /> <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br /> <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following actions: <br /> <br />1. Council Member Ferrill moved to appoint Judith K. <br />Matthews, of 211 Arrowhead Trail, to a four-year term on the <br />Anchor Group Home System Commission, ending December 31, <br />2005; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following <br />vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, <br />Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br />2. Council Member Roop moved to appoint Mary Rives Scott, <br />of 1227 Mulberry Road, to an unexpired three-year term on the <br /> <br /> <br />
