November 13, 2001 <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas requested that Staff send letters to George Lester and <br />Fred Martin thanking them for the economic development efforts. <br /> <br /> Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br />by Vice Mayor Teague, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matter: <br /> <br /> A. Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following action: <br /> <br /> A. Vice Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following Resolution; the <br /> motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call <br /> vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, <br /> Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia, in regular session held on November 13, 2001, that the <br /> City Attorney be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to file a <br /> timely and appropriate response on behalf of the City of Martinsville <br /> in the case of Commonwealth Boulevard Associates, LLC v. City of <br /> Martinsville now pending in the Circuit Court of the City of <br /> Martinsville. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their regular <br />meeting, upon motion by Council Member Roop, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br />Mayor Crabtree declared the meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.
