THURSDAY, October 4, 2001 <br /> <br />Objective: <br /> <br /> Support the location of a four-year degree institution of higher learning in the Martinsville/Henry <br /> County area. <br /> <br />Action Plan: <br /> <br /> Ask Chamber of Commerce to appoint a local task force Of educators and employers to <br /> determine the feasibility and develop strategies. <br /> <br />Objective: <br /> <br /> Conduct a joint planning work session with the City School Board. <br /> <br />Action plan: <br /> <br /> Agenda should include discussions regarding the implications of funding of operations and <br /> capital development projects. <br /> <br />Objective: <br /> <br />Council will strive to build diversity with its staff and as it makes appointments to City boards and <br />commissions and employ a City work force that is representative of the community at large. <br /> <br />Action Plan: <br /> <br />City will participate in programs that increase all employees' awareness and sensitivity to <br />diversity issues. <br /> <br />Objective: <br /> <br /> City administration will strive to have the City work force represent the community at large. <br />Action Plans: <br /> <br /> ~ Manager's diversity committee will share with Council its plans and activities each year. <br /> <br /> <br />
