December 11,2001 <br /> <br />to grant the request and transfer $6,345 into Revenue line 01103938 462101 - <br />Contribution from Fund Balance for Expenditure 01816244 505666 -'Contribution to <br />Social Services; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with <br />all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; <br />Nays (0) - None. Mrs. Grogan added that donations could be mailed to P. O. Box 832, <br />Martinsville, VA 24114, or dropped off at 20 East Church Street, Martinsville. Shidey <br />Barbour expressed concern that Social Services needs to assist the elderly more than <br />children. <br /> <br /> Council considered a recycling report for period July 18 - October 31, 2001. <br /> Leon Towarnicki, Director of Public Works, stated that the usage of the drop-off site was <br /> very light initially but has steadily increased as more citizens become aware of the site's <br /> location. The City's costs for this operation include a monthly fee for rental of the <br /> containers, a haul/transport fee when the containers are empties, and a processing fee <br /> for glass and plastics. During this period, 29,588 pounds of material were collected, <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the following Consent Agenda items; the <br /> motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br /> Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> A.
