Enclosure #2

Martinsville
A CITY WITHOUT LIMITS

DATE:

TO:

FROM:

SUBJECT:

November 7, 2001

Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager

John H. Dyches, Director of Water Resources

Reservoir Rules and Regulations

At Council's October 23rd meeting, I presented recommended revisions to the "Rules and Regulations
Governing the use of Beaver Creek Reservoir and the Adjacent Areas for Recreational Purposes".
During the conversation regarding the elimination of gasoline powered motors, Councilman Roop asked
that an addition be made to alert boaters to the fact that a battery powered motor may not have
sufficient reserve for lengthy excursions. Since this would be more of a caution than a rule, I
recommend that rather than insert further wording into the "Rules", a reference should be included on
the boat dock sign, which will have to be redone anyway. The following statement (or similar) can be
added.

Boaters are responsible for having well charged or spare batteries sufficient for return trip.

55 West Church Street P.O.
