TUESDAY, September 25, 2001 147 <br />Mr. John Saunders, a City resident, asked the status of the City's new Economic Development Office. Mr. <br />Bartlett said that staff of the newly created office should be in the office by week's end. <br /> <br />Mr. Randy Hopkins addressed Council and stated that he is a resident of Henry County, but receives City <br />water. Mr. Hopkins asked why small aircraft have been recently grounded by the FAA. Mayor Crabtree <br />replied that the measure was taken due to precautions for mitigation of terrorist activities. Mr. Hopkins <br />expressed fear of a threat to national security due to anticipation of future terrorist attacks. Mr. Hopkins <br />encouraged City Staff to initiate precautionary measures for possible use of biological agents and <br /> <br />contamination of the City's water supply. <br />following the conclusion of the Meeting. <br />the floor. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hopkins agreed to discuss his concerns with City Staff <br /> <br />The Town Meeting was then closed due to no other business from <br /> <br />Council considered authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement for the use of the City's Solid Waste <br />Disposal Facility by Henry County from July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2006. The City and County <br />Administrations have negotiated this Agreement, which is a modified extension of an existing Agreement, <br />allowing Henry County to continue use of the City's Landfill. The Henry County Board of Supervisors <br />approved the Agreement at its meeting on Monday, September 24, 2001. Council moved upon motion duly <br />seconded, with all members voting: Vote 5-0; Yeas (5)- Crabtree, Teague, Dallas, Ferrill, and Roop; Nays <br />(0)- None, to authorize the Mayor to execute the agreement, as follows: <br /> <br />This Agreement made and entered into on this day of ., 2001, by and between the City of <br />Martinsville, a municipal corporation and political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, party of <br />the first part and the County of Henry, a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, party of the <br />second part. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Henry County Board of Supervisors desires to contract with the City for solid waste <br />disposal services past the current contract expiration date of June 30, 2003; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is prepared to provide these services under certain terms and conditions; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, the parties to this Agreement hereby agree as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
