Enclosure #3

Martinsville

September 25, 2001

Service
Excellence
Award

We are pleased to announce the 3rd quarter 2001 Service Excellence Award
winner.
Each nominee sets a true example of what a public servant should be. Being
nominated by peers is a great honor and each one is to be commended for their
individual efforts in creating a positive, productive working atmosphere.
Each City employee has the opportunity of making a nomination for this award by
submitting a written, signed statement as to why the award should go to the nominee
with examples of instances where nominee exhibited "going the extra mile".
Members of the Customer Service Committee (who are exempt from the award)
scored each nomination on a point system. Serving on the Customer Service
Committee were Brenda Prillaman (Customer Service), Andrea Ward (Purchasing),
Clarence Monday (Fire), Cindera Martin (Police), Wayne Knox Community
Development), Sharon Echols (Utility Billing), Chris Morris (Public Works), Jerry
Caesar (VVater Resources), and Mike Wilson (Electric). This award is not a popularity
contest, it is solely about the employee who goes the extra mile and provides
exceptional service in their job as a public servant. Each quarter, a winner will be
selected and those four quarterly winners will be eligible for the Annual Service
Excellence Award.

Congratulations to the following three employees who were nominated for the
2001 Third QUARTER Service Excellence Award:

Linda Kanode (Police) Rob Fincher (Police) Eddie Frazier( Public Works)
