September 11, 2001 142 Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion by Vice Mayor Teague, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: Appointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1. 1. Planning Commission 2. Henry-Martinsville Social Services Board 3. Board of Zoning Appeals At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following actions: Ao Appointments to various Boards/Commissions 1. Vice Mayor Teague moved to appoint William Crawford Pearson, III, of 729 Indian Trail, to an unexpired four-year term on the Planning Commission, ending June 30, 2002; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. 2. Council Member Ferrill moved to appoint Dr. James E. Rountree, Sr., of 1221 Mulberry Road, to an unexpired four-year term on the Henry- Martinsville Social Services Board, ending May 31, 2002; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members present voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- None. 3. Council Member Roop moved to appoint Rives Brown Coleman, of 603 Mulberry Road, to a three-year term on the Board of Zoning Appeals, ending September 11, 2004; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None.
