September 11, 2001 <br /> <br />142 <br /> <br />Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br /> <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br /> <br />by Vice Mayor Teague, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />Appointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by Subsection <br />1. <br /> 1. Planning Commission <br /> 2. Henry-Martinsville Social Services Board <br /> 3. Board of Zoning Appeals <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br /> <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br /> <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br /> <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following actions: <br /> <br />Ao <br /> <br />Appointments to various Boards/Commissions <br />1. Vice Mayor Teague moved to appoint William Crawford Pearson, III, <br /> of 729 Indian Trail, to an unexpired four-year term on the Planning <br /> Commission, ending June 30, 2002; the motion was duly seconded <br /> and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4 - 0; <br /> Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br />2. Council Member Ferrill moved to appoint Dr. James E. Rountree, Sr., <br /> of 1221 Mulberry Road, to an unexpired four-year term on the Henry- <br /> Martinsville Social Services Board, ending May 31, 2002; the motion <br /> was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members <br /> present voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Ferrill, Roop, <br /> Teague; Nays (0)- None. <br />3. Council Member Roop moved to appoint Rives Brown Coleman, of <br /> 603 Mulberry Road, to a three-year term on the Board of Zoning <br /> Appeals, ending September 11, 2004; the motion was duly seconded <br /> and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4 - 0; <br /> Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> <br />
