Enclosure #1-b 131 <br /> <br />August 23, 2001 <br /> <br />A work session meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was <br />held on August 23, 2001, in the Administrative Conference Room of the Municipal <br />Building, beginning at 9:07 A. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding, to discuss the <br />amendments to the City's Zoning Ordinance. Council Members present <br />and Council <br /> <br />proposed <br />included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; <br />Members Bruce H.T. Dallas, J. Ronald Ferrill and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Wayne D. P. Knox, Planning, Zoning, & Housing Manager, <br />changes are to the R-6, R-9, and R-16 residential zones. <br />ordinance more user-friendly, moved things for clarity, <br /> <br /> stated that the <br />The amendments make the <br />updated items, and added <br />illustrations. By general consensus, with no vote taken, Council agreed to (1) either <br />abolish allowing manufactured homes or allow a mobile home park with stringent <br />restrictions and (2) leave the maximum number of dwelling units per structure at eight <br />but add qualifying words to allow opportunity. <br /> <br /> Council discussed concerns regarding allowances for small lots and the <br />implications of having residential zoning adjoining professional zoning. <br /> <br /> Council discussed the evaluation of the strategic plan. A tentative date was set <br />for Thursday, October 4, 2001, at 9:30 A. M. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their work <br />session meeting, upon motion by Council Member Ferrill, duly seconded, by unanimous <br />vote, Mayor Crabtree declared the meeting adjourned at 10:50 A.
