AGENDA <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />City Council Chamber- Municipal Building <br />7:30 P,M. - Tuesday, August 28, 2001 <br /> <br />Invocation - Council Member Terry L. Roop <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meeting of July <br /> 5-6, 2001. (See Enclosure #1) <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Recognition of and presentation to Robert P. Crouch, Jr. for his <br />assistance to the City while serving as United States Attorney for <br />the Western District of Virginia. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Police Chief Mike Rogers will assist with this presen- <br />tation. <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing related to a $25,824 Local law Enforce- <br />ment Block Grant for the Police Department. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: To comply with the Grant, it is necessary to conduct <br />a Public Hearing. The Grant amount of $25,824 will be supple- <br />mented by a 10% local match of $2,869 from forfeited asset funds <br />for a total of $28,693 to purchase trauma plates, battery backups <br />for radio system, personal computers and less lethal munitions for <br />the Police Department. <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing and consider approval, on first reading, <br />of Ordinance No. 2001-6 amending Section VIII--Special Use <br />Procedure, Subsections H--R-16 Residential, I--R-9 Residential <br />and J--R-6 Residential and Section X--District Regulations/ <br />Residential of Appendix B--Zoning Ordinance of the City Code. <br />(See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: During Council's Work Session on August 23 <br />regarding these amendments recommended by the Planning <br />Commission, Council suggested several changes, some of which <br />will necessitate another public hearing by the Council and possibly <br />the Planning Commission before adoption. The City Attorney will <br />be prepared to advise the Council regarding the proper procedures <br />required. The Enclosure is the same as recommended by the <br /> <br /> <br />
