Enclosure #1-b <br /> <br />July 10, 2001 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on July 10, 2001, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, <br />beginning at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present <br />included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council <br />Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Vice Mayor Teague, Mayor Crabtree welcomed <br />everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the minutes of June 26, 2001, as <br />presented; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br />members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays <br />(0)- None. <br /> <br /> Council considered special recognition by the Fire Department of citizens and <br />City employees. Frances Milstead, of Altrusa International of Martinsville & Henry <br />County, stated, "We began raising funds to purchase a thermal imaging camera for the <br />fire department on September 1, 2000, and received a total of $40,242.64. I would like <br />to present a thermal imaging camera and a check for $3,766.32, which is designated for <br />firefighting equipment and/or supplies, to the fire department." In accepting these item's, <br />Lieutenant Jay Russell stated, "The City should feel privileged. This is the first one in <br />the area." Mr. Russell presented plaques of appreciation to Altrusa International of <br />Martinsville & Henry County and to Cable 6. Council Members verbalized their <br />appreciation for the donations. Captain Ted Anderson, EMS Coordinator, recognized <br />and presented plaques to the following individuals who recently obtained the <br />certification of Cardiac Technician: Jay Russell; Jimmy Ashworth, Tony Beal, Donald <br /> <br /> <br />
