May 24, 2001 <br /> <br /> A work session meeting to review the Fiscal Year 2001-2002 Proposed Budget of <br />the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held on May 24, 2001, in Council <br />Chamber of the Municipal Building, beginning at 9:14 A. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree <br />presiding. Council Members present included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene <br />Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T. Dallas~-J. Rona.!~r F~r. ril!, .,and <br />Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Wes Ashley, E-911 Communications Director, reviewed the board composition <br />and the budget request. He also stated that the ratio funding between the City and <br />County [of Henry] will change for the first time according to the cost sharing formula. <br /> <br /> Ercell Cowan, Registrar, reviewed her budget request. She stated that the State <br />has made cuts and passed them down to the localities. She said, also, that she would <br />need to return in the future to Council for an increase in postage for confirmations. <br /> <br /> Ashby Pritchett, Clerk of Circuit Court, reviewed his budget request and stated <br />that there are no major changes in his budget request. He announced that he did <br />receive $6,000 from the Library of Virginia for security cameras and that all of his deputy <br />clerks are certified through the University of Virginia. <br /> <br /> Pat Conrad, Treasurer, reviewed her budget request and reported that she is <br />working with Sprint to be able to take payments for them. She has signed the contract <br />and returned it to Sprint. <br /> <br /> Joan Ziglar, Commonwealth's Attorney, was unable to attend. Council reviewed <br />her budget, including the Victim/VVitness Program. <br /> <br /> <br />
