June 12, 2001 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was <br />held on June 12, 2001, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, beginning at 7:37 P. <br />M., with Mayor Mark crabtree presiding. Council Members present included: Mark A. <br />Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. <br />Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Roop, Mayor Crabtree welcomed <br />everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas moved to approve the minutes of May 22, 24, 30, 31, 2001, <br />and June 4, 2001, as presented; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following <br />vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; <br />Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered a presentation by the Drug Task Force of Martinsville-Henry <br /> County. Paul Farrar, Chairman of the Drug Task Force Law Enforcement Committee, <br /> announced the Youth June Jam, scheduled for June 16, 2001, 5:00 - 10:00 P. M., at <br /> Martinsville High School. <br /> <br /> Tom Harned, Assistant to the City Manager for Development, stated that the City <br /> received Honorable Mention from the American Economic Development Council in its <br /> Promotional Material Awards Competition for the "We Make Great Neighbors" ad in the <br /> Piedmont Triad City Facts and Roanoke Valley Life. He reported, also, that he had been <br /> <br />elected to a two-year term on the Board of <br /> <br />Development Council. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. <br /> <br />Drive, reported on his request of requiring apartments to have more than one usable exit. <br />was informed that he could speak at a State committee meeting but only for five minutes. <br /> <br />Directors of the International Economic <br /> <br />Hardin Edwards, of 810 Forest Lake <br /> <br /> He <br /> <br />He <br /> <br /> <br />
