May 14, 2001 <br /> <br />Elementary School, "Camp Excellence" at Albert Harris Intermediate School, <br />"Accelerated Readers" at Martinsville Middle School, and "Developmental Algebra" at <br />Martinsville High School. Dr. Trollinger proposed to use the audited fund balance of <br />$361,042.17, and the City contributes an additional $142,715.83. Council Member <br />Ferrill moved for the City Manager to increase School funding by $142,715.83; the <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br />Vote 3 - 1; Yeas (3) - Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (1) - Dallas. <br /> <br /> Jean Ross Matthews, City School Teacher, stated, "1 was born and raised in <br />Martinsville, graduated from Martinsville High School, and started teaching in 1959. We <br /> <br />used to be in the top 25 in the State. <br />what everyone else is doing." <br /> <br />We need more than a six percent raise; that's <br /> <br /> ,, Joseph Finley, School Board Member, stated, "This group is receptive to any <br />suggestions." <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their budget work <br />session meeting, upon motion by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, by <br />unanimous vote, Vice Mayor Teague declared the meeting adjourned at 8:48 P.
