May 24,2001 <br /> <br /> Ronnie Minter, Commissioner of the Revenue, reviewed his budget request. <br />Regarding Mr. Minter's retirement this year, Council Members expressed their <br />appreciation for his years of service and wished him the best of luck. <br /> <br /> Wade Bartlett, Director of Finance, reviewed his budget request and that of <br />Accounting and Utility Billing. <br /> <br /> CounCil recessed at 11:39 A. M., and reconvened at 2:15 P. M. <br /> <br /> Ellen Bell, Director of the Blue Ridge Regional Library, reviewed her budget <br />request and stated that the City has 11,404 registered users with approximately 25 <br />percent actually using the library. Accompanying her were Library Board Members Tom <br />Helmstutler, Mary Jane Simpson, Rives Brown Coleman, and George Lyle. <br /> <br /> Dr. Elizabeth Roycroft and Charles Toothman, of the Martinsville-Henry County <br />Health Department, reviewed their budget request, which is 21 percent of their total <br />proposed budget. Discussion was held regarding services provided, including adult and <br />children's dental services. Dr. Roycroft announced, also, that she would transfer a <br />$1,800 grant to the City to provide community education about the West Nile virus. <br /> <br /> Bud Sedwick, Comprehensive Services Act Coordinator, reviewed his budget <br />request. <br /> <br /> Curtis Nolan, Anchor Group Home Director, reviewed his budget request. <br /> <br />Jim Tobin, Piedmont Community Services Director, reviewed his budget request. <br />There being no further business to come before Council during their budget work <br />session meeting, upon motion by Vice Mayor Teague, duly seconded, by unanimous <br />vote, Mayor Crabtree declared the meeting adjourned at 3:45 P.
