April 10, 2001 58 <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsvi!le, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled April 10, 2001, that the City <br />Manager is hereby authorized to execute and file all appropriate <br />documents for Martinsville's 2001 Community Improvement Grant <br />application totaling $1,218,400 in CDBG funds and $2,547,625 in <br />total investment, and to provide such additional information as may <br />be requested by the Virginia Department of Housing and <br />Community Development. <br /> <br />Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br /> <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Vir.qinia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br /> <br />by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />Bo <br /> <br />Appointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by <br />Subsection 1. <br />1. Clean Community Commission <br />2. Board of Appeals <br />Possible acquisition of real property for public use, as authorized by <br />Subsection 3. <br />Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br />Discussion of prospective businesses or industries or expansion of <br />existing businesses or industries where no previous announcement <br />has been made of the businesses' or industries' interest in locating <br />their facilities in the community, as authorized by Subsection 5. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br /> <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br /> <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following action: <br /> <br />Appointments to various Boards/Commission. <br />1. No action. <br />2. Council Member Roop moved to reappoint Earl W. Greene, <br /> of 1503 White Oak Court, to a five-year term on the Board of <br /> Appeals, expiring May 11, 2006; the motion was duly <br /> seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br /> <br /> <br />
