AGENDA
CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA

City Council Chamber - Municipal Building
7:30 P.M. -Tuesday, April 10, 2001

II.

III.

IV.

Invocation - Mayor Mark A. Crabtree

Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of
March 8, 13 and 22, 2001. (See Enclosure #l-a, #1-b and #l-c)

Special presentation to families of former City Council Members--
Mayor William C. Cole, Jr. and Vice-Mayor Clyde L. Williams, Sr.

COMMENTS: As you are aware, both of these gentlemen recently
passed away. Both were very active in the community and very
well respected by those who knew them. Their families have been
invited to attend for these presentations. '

Conduct a Public Hearing and adopt an Ordinance on a request by
the City of Martinsville to rezone three parcels (10, 11, and a por-
tion of 12) in the Deerfield Acres Subdivision (Stage C), located at
the end of the proposed extension of Independence Drive (to be
known on the Tax Map as Section 47(1)10, 11, 12), from M-2
Industrial to R-6 Residential. (See Enclosure #2)

COMMENTS: This rezoning will bring these properties into con-
formance as a residential area to enable this further development
of Deerfield Acres Subdivision. The Planning Commission has
recommended approval of this rezoning. We recommend that
Council adopt the Ordinance as prepared.

Conduct a Public Hearing and adopt an Ordinance on a request by
the City of Martinsville to amend the Proposed Land Use Map of
the City's Comprehensive Plan designating the area on the east
side of the extension of Independence Drive (more specifically to be
known as 4;~(1)10, 11, and a portion of 12 on the Tax Map of the
City), be shown as Medium Density Residential rather than the
present designation of Industrial. (See Enclosure #3)

COMMENTS: This action is needed as a result of the rezoning of
these properties. The Planning Commission has recommended the
approval of this amendment. We recommend that Council adopt
the Ordinance as prepared.
