VII.

VIII.

vide funding at its current level of $950,000. The Henry County
Board of Supervisors adopted a similar Resolution on January 22,
2001.

Consider approval of the City's prioritized list of projects to be
included in the Year 2001 Regional Comprehensive Economic
Development Strategy and authorizing the City Manager to provide
this information to the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic
Development Administration. (See Enclosure #4)

COMMENTS: The West Piedmont Planning District Commission
updates this document annually in order to obtain eligibility for
localities to apply for Economic Development Administration
funding for various projects. We recommend that City Council
approve the City's updated priority list of projects and authorize
the City Manager to provide this information to the U.S.
Department of Commerce EDA.

Consider an announcement by Sprint regarding a City and County
location for .payment of telephone bills. (See Enclosure #5)

COMMENTS: As you are aware, the closing of Sprint's business
office in the Uptown area has been a concern for many of our
citizens who wish to pay their bills in person rather than mailing
their payments. We have discussed this with representatives from
Sprint and they have agreed to establish two payment sites in the
M-HC area--one at Shumate & Jessie Furniture at 30 Franklin
Street within the Uptown and another at Figsboro Market at 2035
Figsboro Road in Henry County.

IX. CONSENT AGENDA:

Set a Public Hearing for February 27 on a request by Common-
wealth Boulevard Associates, L.L.C., to abandon Townes Street
located west of Franklin Street and north of Commonwealth
Boulevard.

B. Accept and appropriate the following in the General Fund for
FY 2000-2001 Budget:

$500 donation from Martinsville DuPont Credit Union into
Revenue 01100908-4804 10--Donations to Fire Depart-
ment, Expenditure 01321102-506014--Miscellaneous/FD.

2. $2,910.86 from Commonwealth of Virginia into Revenue
011019 17-442401--Confiscated Assets/Police Department
