VII. <br /> <br />IX. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Mrs. Bonnie Greenwalt, Director of Tourism, will <br />attend your meeting to request Council's endorsement of this pro- <br />gram that could be a very important tool in enhancing tourism for <br />our area. We recommend that Council adopt the Resolution as <br />prepared. <br /> <br />Consider authorizing the Administration to submit final documents <br />to the Virginia Department of Transportation for construction of <br />the Uptown Rail Trail and Welcome Center. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: David Reeves and Chris Whitlow will update the <br />Council on the status of this project, after which we recommend <br />that Council authorize the Administration to proceed with sub- <br />mission of documents to VDOT for approval to go out to bid. Local <br />funding forthis phase of the project is in the current budget. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA: <br /> <br />Set a Public Hearing for January 9, 2001, on a request by the <br />City of Martinsville to abandon a 20-foot roadway lying on the <br />east side of Brookdale Street near the intersection of Spruce- <br />dale Street. (See Enclosure #7) <br /> <br />Bs <br /> <br />Accept and appropriate $369.78 received from the Common- <br />wealth of Virginia into Revenue 011019 17-44240 i--Confiscat- <br />ed Assets/Police for Expenditure 0 1311085-506078--State <br />Asset Forfeitures for the Police Department in the General <br />Fund of the City's FY2000-2001 Budget. <br /> <br />Consider, in Closed Session, in accordance with the Code of Virgi- <br />nia, Chapter 21--Freedom of Information Act, Section 2.1-344(A)-- <br />Executive or Closed Meetings, the following: <br /> <br />A. Appointment/Nomination to various Boards/Commissions, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 1: <br /> <br />1. Appointment to Planning Commission. <br /> (One Unexpired Term Ending 6/30/2002) <br /> <br />Nomination to the Western Virginia Emergency Medical <br />Services Council. <br />(One Three-Year Term Ending 1 / 31/2004) <br /> <br />B. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to probable <br /> litigation, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> <br /> <br />
