COMMENTS: Mrs. Bonnie Greenwalt, Director of Tourism, will attend your meeting to request Council's endorsement of this pro- gram that could be a very important tool in enhancing tourism for our area. We recommend that Council adopt the Resolution as prepared. Consider authorizing the Administration to submit final documents to the Virginia Department of Transportation for construction of the Uptown Rail Trail and Welcome Center. COMMENTS: David Reeves and Chris Whitlow will update the Council on the status of this project, after which we recommend that Council authorize the Administration to proceed with sub- mission of documents to VDOT for approval to go out to bid. Local funding forthis phase of the project is in the current budget. CONSENT AGENDA: Set a Public Hearing for January 9, 2001, on a request by the City of Martinsville to abandon a 20-foot roadway lying on the east side of Brookdale Street near the intersection of Spruce- dale Street. (See Enclosure #7) Bs Accept and appropriate $369.78 received from the Common- wealth of Virginia into Revenue 011019 17-44240 i--Confiscat- ed Assets/Police for Expenditure 0 1311085-506078--State Asset Forfeitures for the Police Department in the General Fund of the City's FY2000-2001 Budget. Consider, in Closed Session, in accordance with the Code of Virgi- nia, Chapter 21--Freedom of Information Act, Section 2.1-344(A)-- Executive or Closed Meetings, the following: A. Appointment/Nomination to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1: 1. Appointment to Planning Commission. (One Unexpired Term Ending 6/30/2002) Nomination to the Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council. (One Three-Year Term Ending 1 / 31/2004) B. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to probable litigation, as authorized by Subsection 7.
